Introducing the

three plants

This collection brought many incredible changes in how we create.

Meet the 3 sacred plants that we chose to use.

These plant beings have been handwoven into our cloth using ancestral practices passed down from generations.

Rose silk

We are choosing to work with this unique silk fabric made entirely from the organic waste of rose petals and rose bushes that have been cultivated without the use of chemical fertilizers. The Rose being a revered sacred medicine and used for ceremonial offerings in India, we are utilising the waste and honouring the full cycle of this sacred plant to create even more beauty. This exquisite fibre is delicately woven on traditional looms by our artisans, the entire process using minimal resources.

The use of the Rose plant as a fibre is not only beneficial for its versatility, being a soft gentle fabric, but one of strength.. but it is also incredible for its contribution to our environmental sustainability. By utilising the plant and its waste, as with the other materials we have chosen, by using this plant, we are also able to support the weaving communities in India.

Rose petals contain antioxidants that can help protect the skin from free radicals and irritants. Additionally, the fiber in rose petals has a cooling and calming effect on sensitive body parts, while also supporting the nervous system.

Roses possess one of the highest vibrations found in nature's plant kingdom. These exquisite flowers are not only beautiful but also among the strongest and most resilient plants found worldwide.

Lotus silk

Our Lotus silk is produced from the sacred Lotus plant, which thrives in still, shallow bodies of water such as lakes, ponds and lagoons. This plant, known for its symbolism of love, resilience, rebirth, and perseverance, generates a unique and raw, silk material.

The Lotus plant is incredibly self-sufficient and regenerative, requiring no human intervention such as pesticides or chemicals to grow. Instead, it relies solely on its natural habitat in the lake, conserving water. Fed by the elements only and harvested by hand. The lotus flower is a phyto sanitary plant that cleans the water in which it grows and preserves the ecosystem while protecting fish and insects. This plant is an incredible asset to our ecosystem.

Lotus silk is made from the stems of the plant, woven on a traditional loom by highly skilled artisans. All elements of the textile, from the creating the threads to the set up of the loom, is done by hand - it is a truely sacred ancestral skill to keep alive in these communities today.

Kala Cotton

Kala cotton is a purely rain fed and carbon neutral crop, resilient to even the harshest of weather conditions. A short staple cotton variety indigenous to Kutch, India, the crop uses no pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. In addition to being completely organic and energy efficient, it provides livelihoods to farmers given its hardy nature.

As with our other two chosen fibres, Kala cotton is woven by hand. There are very few traditional artisans left who can operate the traditional handloom to create these sacred fabrics. The very ecosystem that supported thousands of artisans and farmers has literally been hanging by a thread. This can and will change.

The more we work and support the indigenous practices of farming and creating, the more we walk in reverence with the earth and can make these changes for our mother earth and all her people .

Dreamy Grainy Gradient Circle

With patience and devotion, we create each item, our little community of farmers, weavers, dyers and sewers are all honoured for their part in the process of creation. And just like that, one by one, we weave beauty and goodness into our art, ensuring that it embodies the essence of sustainability and ethical craftsmanship.
